I have used the Mach 3 for years and recently moved onto the Fusion Power. The first shave I had with the Azor was good but since the first shave I get terrible razor burn and a terrible rash. I have binned the Azor and shall remain loyal to Gillette just because I get less razor burn. The actual shave itself is good and close. Also the blades on the Azor look very cheap, I know it's a cost thing and all that but people in a shop looking at the fancy blades on a Gillette will probably choose that over a disposable looking tuning fork with a bic blade!

I have used King of shaves moisturisers for years and am a real fan of their saving software.

I’m a sucker for shavers. The second a new one appears on the shelves, I’m in there, lured by the promise of the ultimate shave.

Unfortunately, while the Azor is certainly no worse in terms of shave quality than those models currently on the market, I can’t honestly say it is any better.

The trouble is it feels so horribly cheap. Yes, I know that it is eco friendly. I understand that it is British. I commend the fact that its replacement blades are relatively cheap. But it inspires absolutely zero confidence. It is the difference between picking up a finely balanced Sabatier kitchen knife and one bought from a pound store with a flimsy handle. Sorry Mr King. I wanted to like it, really I did. But I’ll stick with my over-priced Fusion.

I continue to read with great interest the see-saw opinions being posted on our Azor. It appears some love it, some hate it, some are in-between. All I know is that our sales of it are absolutely fantastic, and that we've had some stunning letters and emails into Nicky who runs the customer care team. Keep the discussion going. :)

Sorry Will,

I must admit I've found the Azor to not be so great either. On first shave I noticed a lot of irritation under my chin, and irritation is something I never get. Since the first shave (I've used it 3 times now) the irritation has calmed but the blade already feels blunt and uncomfortable to use unless in very small strokes. As someone else said, due to it feeling so cheap (I must admit, I quite like the form etc) it doesn't really stand in the same catagory as Mach3's and other blade replacement razors, but feels more like a disposable - albeit that's not to say just because a Mach3 shaft is made from metal that it feels more expensive or valuable, but there is some sort of perception from a consumer point of view.

As for your sales, I can imagine a lot of people are buying due to that fact that it's new and it promises a better shave etc., just don't be surprised if they slump over the next few months due to the 'marmite' nature of peoples experience (love/hate).

As many others have said, I've used your lotions for ages, they're great and I'm definitely loyal to KoS in that sense, but I think there's a lot of work that has to be done with the Azor to really seriously compete with what is already there. Like anything else new, development is the key.

:D I just got in from work and found that I actually DID win 1 of the many thousands of Azors in the competition (I had thought WEEKS ago that there was no chance I won) also its in white, which is what I wanted originally but when I went to buy one they only had black which isnt half as nice... I still bought it though

Will, I bought some of the orange kinexium gel and its awesome, alot better than the alphagel that I had religiously bought for many months.

It seems that there is a marmite factor with the Azor but I just dont understand how people say they got more irritation than with the mach3/fusion... by DESIGN the technology of the blades IS better this is not a matter of opinion its science which is fact.

I have been using the Azor now for about month or so and not had to change the blades yet, with the fusion I had to change the blades every 5-10 shaves because I would get nasty friction burn and red blotchy patches on my face that would itch, in turn I would scratch and then get a sore irritation rash. Basically after shaving, I just could not touch my face all day else I would end up with spots/a rash.

I have experienced none of these problems with the Azor and have found it to be easily the best shave I've had so far,

Again, thank you :)

Azor thread

thanks for all the posts, Which? Magazine came out on Monday, and they loved the Azor, rating it very highly, better than the best buy Gillette (Mach3 Turbo). Which? is an independent, unbiased and non-advertiser led magazine. Why the Azor isn't working for some people, I don't know, because we're getting increasing sales, and increasing blade purchases. Shaving. It's a funny old business, but I enjoyed the latest 'pure play' King of Shaves this morning, with the Azor and our new (as yet, unreleased but coming soon Azor Advanced Shaving Gel. I know you thhink I'd say its awesom, but it IS!!! :)

Azor Gel availability

hopefully, it will be availalbe early october, i'm not too sure which retailer will have it first. it uses v5.0 of our SSE (shave surface enhancing) technology, is fantastic for sensitive skin, and a great companion to the Azor.

Looking forward to trying

I was one of those entrants to the Azor giveaway, having been a constant user of Fusion since it was first released.
I had just replenished my supply of Fusion blades when, lo and behold, my free Azor dropped through my letterbox! Anyway, I've just had my last shave with my current (Fusion) blade and so I'm looking forward to trying the Azor on Saturday.

'Saturday'? Yes, well because of my sensitive skin - and extremely tough bristles - I only shave every other day. The KoS Alphagels have helped enormously (and I am particularly grateful that you have a range of fragrance-free products - well done!) but I have never, ever had a close shave. The best I have done has been with the Fusion, but even then I still have 'stubble residue'.

So, I'm looking forward to the Azor challenge and will post my results here at the weekend. Just hoping against hope that I can achieve the 'perfect shave'!

Cheers,

Gary

Azor - ouch

I understand that it's rare to have a one fits all, I found this product really didn't work for me. On the saving money marketing route that the company seems to take (interesting when rest of KoS is so expensive) I would simply switch to Mach 3 rather than Fusion (which is expensive but good to be fair).

Seems more negative comments than good on here.

Azor thread

I only just found this thread and want to comment. I have a 'difficult' tough beard and sensitive skin. For some 40+ years I've tried every combination of razor with oils, foams and gels. None has given me trouble free shaving and after some trials the bathroom has resembled an abattoir!

I spotted Azor in Boots a few months ago and thought I'd give it a try. The first shave was not easy as I had to learn a new way of holding and using the razor, but since then I have had the best shaves of my life! The best thing of all is that with Mach3, Quattro and Fusion, I could never get more than one week out of a blade before it was dull enough to scrape the surface off my skin. But with Azor I have just completed around 6 full weeks on one blade. This is incredible for my beard and a big money-saver.

I do have one criticism - the Azor razor does not give a very clean line on the sideboards or easily cope with any hair just below the nostrils. The extra blade on the Fusion is ideal for this. But all in all I'm delighted.

I second that AlanP, I also agree that the fuzion precision blade helps a lot with clean sideburns and under the nose.

I just used the Azor and orange kinexium gel again about 10 mins ago and its awesome :D

Well, after a week of using this I'm afraid I'm giving up.
I read the earlier comments so, despite a rather rough 'first shave' I thought it prudent to try it a few times before delivering my verdict.

It's not for me. I found it didn't shave me as close as the Fusion (which I have been using for about 4 years now) and I had a big problem with the stubble directly below my nose, as others have commented.

I'm sorry then, but I will be going back to my Fusion - mainly for the single-blade trimmer though, I think. I liked the heft of the Azor and the fact that it felt bigger (wider), but it just didn't feel right and I seemed to get 5 o'clock shadow earlier than I used to.

I adore the KoS gels and will be using them forever, but I'm sorry - I won't be changing my Fusion... at least not until the AzorII comes out!! ;)
