Best Wave Editor?

Postby Danger Mouse on Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:13 pm

Can anyone reccomend me a good wave editor for my pc? On someof my cd's there can be 10 minutes of silence at the end of the last track. I know there is sometimes a hidden track on there but not always. I want to cut this off for using my ipod as i could fit a couple more songs on there.

Any help will be great.

Are you looking for the absolute best, in which case you're looking at pro-tools, adobe audition or soemthing of that ilk (and spending hundreds on it)?

If you're looking for free then you could try something like wavepad, I've not used it myself but it seems pretty popular.

You also get simple wave editors with Nero and most cd-burning packages.

You might try BoncEnc, which is freeware. I generally use the one that is built into Nero 6.4.x, while using BonkEnc to rip CDs to MP3 format.

If you're looking for a good free one, then I would say...

Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

If you are looking for something very professional, then I would say in order of preference...

1. Sony Sound Forge

2. Steinberg Wavelab

I always used to use Goldwave for editing Radio stuff when in the Business. Good enough for AmDram stuff too.

Audacity is the DB's though.
